From the moment GM Don sent me a pre-arrival note about making my stay restorative, until departing the Westin Verasa, I felt Platinum for Life special.
An impressive hotel without equal in the Napa Valley is the Westin Verasa. Conveniently located inches from tasty wine tasting rooms and delectable edibles, the Westin Verasa is an hospitality oasis featuring well-appointed large color-filled rooms, well-equipped Westin Workout, and sparkling spa tub w/lap pool. Speaking of laps, there is a running track surrounding the property, taking-in the local fora and wild-life.
Using my 24 hour clock, before arriving I called Nichole/Danisha concerning the check-in time. Smart-on, Nichole/Danisha said, we are expecting you several hours before normal the normal check-in time. The Westin Verasa recognizes Platinum members, taking brand loyalty and status recognition to another level. After a speedy check-in, Ivan/Ian arranged for a tasty breakfast: fresh berries, crispy breakfast sweets, twice squeeze orange juice, yogurt, and perfect parfait. Stepping into sweet suite felt like walking into a cathedral of chill; vaulted ceilings, warm colorful earth tones, two bathrooms, master/guest bedrooms, full-on kitchen (with ice maker), plates and flatware. Everything one could possibly need their last days in American before heading-out officially for an overseas assignment. I couldn't have been made more happier. Wrong.
After moving from a Deluxe sweet suite to the massive two-bedroom palace I forgot a critical item. In steps Michael to the rescue. Literally, three minutes later, Michael handed me my property with a smile. That is service par excellence. With the safe return of my shoes, all smiles followed as I stepped into the bubbling spa surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery. Operator Shanirra was extremely helpful answering a barrage of inquiries including: does the house have a washer/dryer? Steps away from my sweet suite rested a top-of the line Kenmore front loader industrial-like washer/dryer. While searching for the coin drop (which doesn't exist) in walks Events/Groups Manager Sarah, along with an impressive maintenance team. With the precision of a NASCAR/Formula 500 pit crew, Sarah and the team assisted with operation laundry. Seriously. after traveling to over 130 countries (which is well over 75% if the world), I have never seen a better self-service laundry operation in a hotel. It's obvious the Westin Verasa GM Don and the entire management team manages by walking around -- the net result are functional clean spaces, oversaw by happy high performing staff members with whenever and whatever can-do attitudes.
It's Napa, what about the wine/food? Libations you ask? Every evening there is a GM reception from 5-7 featuring locally produced world class wines. Yesterday Charles Krug poured generous tastings of several whites, accompanied by Cab/Petit Verdot. All the wines were delicious, but my focus remained on the Cabernet/Petit Verdot. Absolutely yummy. Charles Krug is one of the oldest Napa Valley wine producers opening its doors in 1882. If tasting loads of different wine while rolling through the California wine country is more your speed, the Wine Train is located right next door! A worthwhile adventure, book early for the best deals. For my last meal in American, I ventured down the street to Gott's. Gott’s Roadside is a cool spot, housed in a repurposed building. My last supper? A double decker burger, replete with all the trimmings, sweet potatoes fries, chicken tenders, and lemonade — all made-to-order using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Sadly, my Home Leave came to an end, and the time for checking-out arrived. Fortunately, check-out was a breeze and a pleasure -- facilitated by Oswaldo. Again, Platinum members are recognized, celebrated and rewarded. Oswaldo sensing that I needed more fun time, extended my stay to the maximum.
While typing this review at SFO awaiting my trans-Atlantic flight, that is exactly the way I feel about my visit to the Westin Verasa Napa: Living the American dream to the maximum, while dreaming in a heavily bed. What's not to like?
Many thank yous Don to you and your team for making my last day in America, special.
